Thankfulness and gratitude are the feelings that I have heading into this season of rest. After nearly five years of ministry (3 ½ as staff) at Aletheia Church the elders have allotted an extended time of rest for our family. We feel that the timing is perfect for what God has planned for our family.
As Greg transitions into a staff pastor role filling the Executive position it creates some space for us to catch our breath for a few weeks. Catching our breath feels like an appropriate way to frame this time. We have never felt more at home and called to a place as we do here at Aletheia. Our hopes, dreams and visions for Aletheia include the Trent family for as far as we can tell and we look forward to many more years of doing life with this amazing church.
What we do hope for during this time off is rest. This time away doesn’t come with many tangible goals in mind. If we can connect with the Lord, spend time as a couple, and quality time with the kids we will see that as a success. Please pray for us to that end. It’s not that this time has no goals, it’s just that simple. Love God, love each other and hope for a refreshed posture moving into the Fall season.
We covet your prayers and welcome your fellowship on Sunday mornings. I personally will not be checking email or engaging in any conversations about strategy and pastoral ministry during this time. However, we are still a part of the family and look forward to that aspect even over the next month or so.
My first day back in the office will be August 28, 2017 at which time we will work as a team to establish a formal job description for me to include a counseling and care focus. Our hope is that Greg’s presence on the team will drive the vision of Aletheia further and my focus will help our body experience the grace of Jesus more deeply across the varied spaces that our church exists. Pray for that process as well.
Thank you Aletheia family for loving us well by caring for our souls and our families by allotting seasons like this for us. I love you all so much and am anxious to be back in the office, fighting for the gospel with you soon!
