Description
Most Christians don’t have the opportunity to move away and attend Bible College or Seminary, so Aletheia is offering a program for Christians who desire serious study, we’re calling it Aletheia Equip. Aletheia Equip is a two-year program that the church is providing during 2021 and 2022 that provides theological and practical education for all interested Christians. The two-year program will consist of six courses and each course is accredited in partnership with Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS) and its corresponding college, Spurgeon College.

Classes are ten weeks long and will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at the Aletheia Church office. Each course is coed and will be capped at 25 students. Aletheia Equip is available to all Christians, no matter what church associated with.

- What topics do these six courses consist of?
- Christian Doctrine I: the Bible, the Trinity, God & His Attributes, Creation, Providence, Angels, Humanity, & Sin.
- Christian Doctrine II: Jesus Christ, Salvation, the Holy Spirit, the Church, & End Times.
- Personal Evangelism & Discipleship: growing as a Christian, prayer, fasting, sharing the gospel, the great commission, discipleship groups, etc.
- Introduction to Hermeneutics: how to interpret the Bible and its various genres; how to communicate Scripture in a formal talk like a sermon and a bible study; the various mistakes made in studying Scripture; outlining a passage & bible arcing; advanced topics in biblical interpretation; etc.
- Biblical Theology: a summary of how the Bible is a redemptive story culminating in Jesus; the nature of how the Old and New Testaments relate; major themes that run from Genesis to Revelation; our place in God’s grand story.

Aletheia Equip is designed for all Christians, especially those looking for a structured and accountable curriculum that is designed to help you glorify and love the Lord with your head, heart, and hands. You will learn the fundamentals of the faith and drink from the depth of the church’s history of Christian teaching. Aletheia Equip is also a great opportunity for ministers to refine their skill, and future ministers to receive necessary instruction.
- What is the benefit of enrolling in Aletheia Equip?
Once a student completes at least four of the six courses offered, they will receive an accredited certificate from MBTS. All six courses are also eligible to count towards the degrees offered at Spurgeon College and MBTS, and are tuition free.
- How do I register?
All those who would like to be a part of Aletheia Equip, no matter if they are seeking a certificate or auditing the courses, must register for each course on Aletheia’s website for the church’s records. Use this link: Aletheia Registration. All those who are taking Aletheia Equip courses for credit, whether toward a certificate or degree, must complete a MBTS Enrollment Form provided by Danny Fernandez. This form must be completed prior to the start of the course. All those who plan to use Aletheia Equip courses towards a degree with MBTS or Spurgeon College, must also apply to that respective school and follow their admissions process, as well as their registration process.
- What accredited degree options do these schools offer that Aletheia Equip can count towards?
All six courses offered through Aletheia Equip can count towards various degree options. Some of these courses can count as part of the degrees required curriculum, and some courses can count as electives towards the degree curriculum. If you plan to count Aletheia Equip towards a degree from MBTS or Spurgeon College, please get in direct contact with Danny Fernandez (dannyfernandez@aletheiatampa.com). In order to take these courses for credit, trainees must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma.
- Are there any costs to Aletheia Equip?
MBTS and Spurgeon College charge a fee of $25.00 for each course taken, and it is due upon registration. The only other cost associated with each course is the cost of your class textbooks, which each student is responsible to purchase prior to the start of the course. MBTS is graciously offsetting tuition costs for those in this program.
- How much work will be assigned?
Each course will consist of ten lectures, a weekly assignment completed in class; at least two more assignments like a book review, paper, and/or a ministry practicum; and about 500 pages of reading.
- Can I audit these courses?
Yes! For those who are not interested in receiving a certification and do not want to complete the assignments, they may still attend Aletheia Equip lectures. Simply complete the Aletheia church center registration.
- Will childcare be provided?
No. Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities nor opportunity to offer childcare.
- Why is seminary worth it?
Seminary is a season of intense preparation, like digging a deep well. But upon graduating, you’ll be able to draw from that well for the rest of your life.
