Who We Are

OUR VISION

To see a greater worship of Jesus

OUR MISSION

That our community and our world

would know and experience

the love of Christ.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our Core Beliefs (listed below) are what we hold to be the key doctrines that ground the Christian faith as they are found in the Scriptures. We expect all members of Aletheia to be in full agreement with these Core Beliefs.

Our full STATEMENT OF FAITH can be viewed here. There are a number of secondary beliefs contained in each of these sections that heavily influence and direct the culture and direction of our church. Complete agreement is not required for the sake of membership, but it should be known that we will preach, teach, lead, and counsel in accordance with these convictions.

ONE god,
three persons

We believe in one God eternally existing as one essence and three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, each of whom is fully God, yet there is one God. (Deut. 6:4, Gen. 1:1-2, John 1:1, 1:14, Acts 5:3-4, Matt. 28:18-20)

Bible

We believe that the sixty-six books of the Bible are the Word of God and the ultimate doctrinal authority on all matters. (2 Tim. 3:14-17, 2 Pet. 1:19-21, Heb. 4:12, Isa. 40:6-8)

god is creator

We believe that God created the world from nothing and rules, reigns, sustains, and governs all things at all times in all places. (Gen. 1:1, Deut. 10:14, Ps. 24:1, Ps. 89:11, Col. 1:17, Heb. 1:3)

IMAGO DEI

We believe that God has created human beings, male and female, in his image, and that all humans possess intrinsic worth, value, and dignity (Gen. 1:26-30, Gen. 9:6, Jas. 3:9)

SIN

We believe that Sin has fractured all things, leaving the world in desperate need for salvation and redemption. (Gen. 3, Rom. 3:9-20, 23, 5:12-14, Eph. 2:1-3)

Salvation by Grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone

We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. (Gal. 2:20, 1 Pet. 2:24-25, Eph. 2:4-9, 1 Cor. 15:1-6, 2 Cor. 5:14-21)

the church

We believe that the Church is comprised of those who have been born-again by God’s grace into the body of Christ, sent into the world to shine forth the glory of God and to declare and display the good news of the gospel. (1 Cor. 12:12-31, Matt. 28:18-20, 1 Peter 2:9-12, Acts 20:28, Eph. 2:11-22)

Christ’s Return

We believe that Jesus Christ is returning to the world to judge the living and the dead. (Acts 17:30-31, 2 Tim. 4:1, Rev. 20-21)

OUR HISTORY

IMG_0290.png

IN APRIL OF 2008, A TEAM OF 20 PEOPLE LIVING AND SERVING JESUS IN HARRISONBURG, VIRGINIA, BEGAN TO MEET UP AND PRAY ABOUT PLANTING A CHURCH TOGETHER.

The desire was to go to a city of influence. Later that year, God made it clear that Tampa, Florida was going to be that location.

After nearly a year of planning and praying, the team began to relocate to Tampa to initiate the new church plant in the late winter of 2009. The team members immediately began building relationships, intentionally sharing and living out the gospel, and holding Bible studies out of their homes as well as on the campus of the University of South Florida. What God created as a result of all of this was Aletheia Church in Tampa.

Since then, a vibrant, growing, multi-generational, gospel-centered community has been established. We have seen countless lives impacted by the good news that Jesus loves and saves sinners. Our global reach has extended itself to places such as The Dominican Republic, Haiti, Ireland, Mexico, Peru, Spain, and Thailand.

Additionally, built within our DNA is church planting. And as we near a decade old as a church, we have had the privilege of planting four additional churches out of Aletheia Tampa, sending countless people and resources over the years to St Pete (2011), Gainesville (2012), Seminole Heights (2016), and most recently, in Lakeland (2018).

THIS IS ALETHEIA.

We want our community and our world to know and experience the love of Christ. We are who we are because of God and what was accomplished when He sent His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. Therefore we do what we do because of Christ.

EVERYTHING WE ARE IS INFORMED BY A DESIRE TO SEE A GREATER WORSHIP OF JESUS.

OUR PASTORS

At Aletheia we believe in the biblical view of male elders (pastors) as outlined in places such as 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. In addition, we believe in the roles of both men and women in servant leadership positions (deacons) whether in order to minister to the church or aid in God’s work in this world.
